Hummm.The chef picked very nice sashimi and sushi for me and gave me a half price per their happy hour deal.It was not worth the chance of eating tepid re-heated shellfish.On Saturdays they're only open from 5-11 which is.There wasn't many people there when I went in.The place is essentially a neighbourhood sushi joint. What happened to the mussels.It was not happy hour and I was the only patron in the place.The crab puffs, calamari and wings were good but the potstickers had an odd taste.Seriously, put out a groupon or offer a check-in benefit or something.They have all day happy hour on Sundays with some pretty good deals. ?I will say the 1-2 young hostesses were fairly inexperienced as I frequently had to ask for a water refill and one of them hadn't a clue what 'ice' was.I've never had one before, but it smelled dry and fishy and not good.The sushi was very good and fresh as expected.Two of my rolls were good, the spider roll (soft shell crab) was gross.

They really need better training for their servers.I attempted to order the salad with ranch dressing and was told they only offered ginger dressing but ?it?s really good ginger dressing.Please tell them Jax Restaurant Reviews sent you.The last roll we tried was the Oh My God roll-Shrimp tempura, avocado, asparagus, krab, little pieces of scallops on top, special sauce. They were okay but nothing special.However, it may just be my personal preference that leads me not to love it.Simply salted.” We thought the ambiance was bizarre but the food tasted fine and looked amazing.As you can see from the pictures at Cafe du Japon they definitely shoot for the “food as art” theme.It was very cool looking and it tasted okay.Once you get past the bizarre appearance of the place the food is visually fantastic and also fairly good.
